So now the season is on the back of Buchholz and Lester on short rest, and an offense that has amassed 6 hits in 16+ innings. Call me a pessimist but that
doesn't exactly breathe confidence

Not that it's much condolence to anyone, but Ellsbury has played his heart out and had a bunch of good ABs this series, his 0-3 yesterday notwithstanding.

At least end this slow bleed in Boston. I don't think I can take another TBS crowd shot of a menopausal woman covered in fur, sipping a $17 dollar cosmo, and pretending like she even knows who is winning. |

Look, the series isn't over yet. We all know the sox are a superior team playing at Fenway. But this team needs to score 6+ runs and give Buchholz and
Lester something to work with in game 3 and hopefully game 4. If they do lose however, maybe this will quiet the talk of many obnoxious Redsox "fans"
who decided to be fans from '04 and on.

This team was 19-27 on the road against teams above .500. 19-29 so far if you include the playoffs.

I just don't seem them doing it. I'd be thrilled to be proven wrong, but they just don't have "it" this year. |

The guy isn't even close to the strike zone on about 4 straight pitches, and Lowell is up hacking away.
I'm really looking forward to the day I don't have to watch his carcass anymore.
Why would we ever PH for Varitek? I mean, what if we PH for him, and it goes to extras, and vic martinez gets eaten by
dinosaurs? We'd have to use the emergency catcher.

Pretty much the whole offense looked like crap, just Lowell's misfortune to be the last up.

And we are one step closer to breaking down what this team needs to do for 6 months. I hope the sox can at least send this back to Anaheim and show that they
at least belong in the playoffs.

The saving grace so far is that we're losing to a good team that can still play better than they have. That bodes well if they do move on, although I
don't want to even think about that yet......
Fearless 2010 prediction: The Red Sox will target Braves catcher Brian McCann in a deal for top prospects that also includes eating the rest of Derek
Lowe's contract.

Not that he seems arrogant in way and I appreciate the guys eye but he has no reputation with umps, if it is within 3 inches of the plate spoil it, you are not getting the benefit of the doubt. He needs the Amica perspective to see how far off the plate strikes are getting called on a regular basis. |

This is defintely a different team home and away, but a few things:
-I'd feel semi confident in having Beckett in a potential Game 5 out West providing we can make a series of this -Lowrie pinchhitting for Gonzalez?? Really? Come on Tito. - I thought Francona left Beckett in too long, but it was really a toss of the coin, can't really fault him for that. |

I definitely agree with you about Beckett and he def let Beck in too long.
I don't understand why he didn't put in Wagner after it was 2-1. Beckett is right up there with Youk and Pedroia for the biggest temper and he was BS that the ump let Napoli go to first base after he didn't move out of the way of a curve ball. That was the best opportunity to put in Billy Wagner. Although you can't blame Tito, that is always his damn philosophy. Either way we would have lost 2-1 due to our horrific offensive support. Whatever though, the games over but the series is certainly not over.

They talk for a week who is to be on the roster/bullpen, did he brain fart that Papelbon had almost no work the last few weeks? Wagner? The next day is an off day. Bring them in to pitch the 7-8-9 if need be. |

The Sox can still come back in this one, infact I think they will, but they have been embarrasing, and this team has not hit consistently all season. I hope
this series will make everyone realize that a Prince Fielder is more important at this point for next season than a Felix Hernandez.

It's a playoff game, you have a great bullpen, they're all rested with an off day tomorrow... there's no possible reason not to yank the starter at the first sign of trouble. And every at-bat that inning was a sign of trouble. Oh yeah, and our offense should be ashamed of itself. I'm certainly ashamed of it.
