Just glancing quickly at the stats page for Reddick's numbers, I will say I am pretty impressed by his improved plate discipline. He really puts a lot of balls in play, and when he does strike out, it comes by swinging strikes 90% of the time! If he can start to lay off of those pitches that I assume are out of the zone, he will be well on his way to getting on base via the free pass which will make him an even more dangerous player at the plate. Because his strikeout rate is down to 20%, I think we can be fairly happy with his progress, but I think it is way out of line to call him the best hitter in the system at this point.

I would like to see him improve upon his LD% and wonder if all these balls that he seems to be swinging at out of the zone are limiting his ability to make solid contact, and just becoming fly/ground balls. For him to be ready to break into an MLB lineup (especially at RF) in the near future, I would have to see more success at adjusting to the strike zone at the AA and/or AAA level. I think he has enough time in his development to further work on this aspect of his game. His HR/F rate of 19% is also very impressive and shows that he has learned to destroy the ball with consistency and think this can translate into a very valuable asset in the major leagues if he can 1) continue his current development, and 2) stay at CF longterm. Having a CF with some power is a very valuable commodity that will cement his status as he inches closer to the majors.
