I'm pretty excited to see how Alex Wilson does, from the pre-draft scouting reports he seemed to have great stuff.

I once lost a bet on who would have the highest season SLG% because of a scorer. The guy I had a bet with had a clear error ruled a double in the last game of the season and it was the margin of victory.

It was amateur baseball and normally not something you would remember but in this case, the bet was who was going to ask a hot chick named Brin out after she lost her loser boyfriend. The other guy won, she broke up with her bf and he took her out. A year later they got married. Did I mention that she was hot, very hot ? Oh yeah, the official scorer was the other guys mother. I hate official scorers. - LCBF

I saw him pitch last Sunday in Oneonta. They don't have a gun but I was looking at some of the pitchers charting with their gun and he was sitting at 91-92 MPH.

Probably a long shot, but has anyone seen Nestor Lastreto? His profile makes him sound like he doesn't throw particularly hard, but he posted very good #s last year in the DSL. Of course he's back there again this year for a third go-around, which leads me to believe the Sox don't think he has a real future.

The Lowell Spinners and Staten Island Yankees are starting the second half of a home-and-home series, following the Spinners' three-game sweep in Lowell. Just curious, if anybody knows: do minor league teams (like their major league counterparts) travel the night before a series starts, even if they arrive in the middle of the night, or would they travel during the day today?

As a rule, most of the teams leave day of game when going on a road trip. They will travel after the games on getaway day. When you consider the length of the season and the number of trips it does save them a ton of money not having to pay for motels all those extra nights.

Drive game - Sand Gnats announcer:
Weeden at 1B

Huntzinger:
1st: FB strike corner, Curve strike, FB ball, popout
2nd: FB strike 91mph (Greenville gun), single leftfield just over Middlebrooks glove
3rd: 1st pitch Flare nice play by Dent SS
4th ground out
8 pitches 7 strikes

Drive: opposing pitcher has a FB and slider unknown if he has anything else.
Gentile's hit was poorly played
Lavarnway's fielders choice should have been a DP
Stanley's K was on a 2-2 fastball low and away
Weeden's K was on a 1-2 FB (I think)

Pawtucket's game called off even though it's sunny with no chance of precipitation because S/WB's field has issues with drainage, and is still soaked from rains this week.

They played at 10 and completed it... the 2nd game isn't updated on milb.com however the weather
seemed decent this morning (I flew out today arrggghhh)... You should be doubling down on the
Lakeland FSL and GCL games... The northern division of the GCL (yanks, braves, jays etc) are
always interesting

Thanks, clicked the GCL link here and was no result, just figured they rained out again.

I go to some Lakeland Flying Tigers FSL games sometimes, would go an awful lot more if the Sox would finally put another FSL team in Florida. I REALLY miss the HaSox.

Lost the inet. When I left Huntzinger was off to a great start. First 18 pitches, 15 were for strikes, almost all called on the outside corner and almost all were fastballs. (Heard 91 but that's Greenville's gun). He's not faring quite as well now, he's done for the day & the Drive are down 4-2 in the seventh. Interestingly Huntzinger went 6 and didn't strike anybody out (or walk anybody). He gave up 3 runs.

At Salem, there's no score after five. Apparently FedEx was intimidated by Expo's game yesterday and he's down to .400, the Mendoubledza line.

Earlier this year Epperson (SalSox mgr) said something to the effect that Weiland was struggling but when he figured it out, he would be a good one. He's apparently clairvoyant because for the last three weeks or so, he's been damn near unhittable. 2 hits today. Unfortunately his BB/K ratio still sucks and opposing runners have no problems running against him (1/1 today). He's going to slam dunk the pitcher of the last three weeks poll.

We need to investigate the AA score keepers, it's been a while since Diaz has had an error. Something's fishy.

I'm kinda sick of Mike Jones, who's really no prospect, getting all the DH at-bats. Aren't Exposito and Federowicz good enough with the bat to get some of those chances (each have a higher OPS than Jones)? Is one of them hurting? Is there any other good reason to limit their exposure? I just feel they need more at bats in order to progress as well and quickly as possible.

I hope not the RS would not take the Nats lightly and aware of what they did to the Blue Jays & Yankees. Just sweep them by play hard & show the Nats why they're best in AL. -MLBDreams
