I don't agree that over 100 innings, pitch counts will regress to the average. If a pitcher has a lower WHIP, they will face fewer batters per inning than
the average. For instance, a 1.1 WHIP is ten percent higher than a 1.0 WHIP. Consequently, that pitcher will face 10 percent fewer batters, and throw 10
percent fewer pitches than the average.
That all assumes that pitchers are throwing the same amount of pitches per batter, which they are not. Kelly seems to be pitching to contact (I have no hard numbers, but the low walk totals and relatively low K totals seem to indicate that.) So, given his ridiculously low WHIP, and pitching to contact both lead me to believe that Casey Kelly is throwing MUCH fewer pitches than most pitchers over 100 innings. I believe this is why we are going to see him go over that magic number.

What would Kelly's innings limit be for next year? I was guessing 130-150. I think he's got to see that he has a legit shot to get a start or two in
Boston at age 21 (when he would have been a Junior), and POSSIBLY have a rotation spot of his own at age 22! I hope they drop him to Lowell when he plays SS
just so he can see how far away he is from the majors as a hitter, so that when he does the math in his head it's an obvious conclusion.

Maybe Kelly prefers hitting because pitching is too easy for him. He thinks he needs more of a challenge.

Yeah, the announcer said "Navarro" when it first happened, then said "Negron" when repeating what happened. I just figured Negron was more
likely to drop it. Box score says Navarro.

Not that he stands much of a chance at doing as well as pitching, but what happens if he puts up an 850 OPS and plays a solid SS position? Pretty ironic that
the better he does at SS, the harder the decision will be to make him a pitcher. Hopefully he's one of those competitor-types that loves winning above all
else, and his dominance on the mound makes him dedicate himself to pitching.
