The other thing was that Francoeur still gets a louder cheer during introductions then Chipper Jones.
Well of course he does... Chipper only gets cheered by Braves fans. Frenchie gets cheered by opposing fans too!

I'm really impressed that someone can be so bad, at every possible aspect of the game. I mean, wow.

Dave Roberts has caught a lot of flack (deservedly so) but I think he has been surprisingly good today.

You aren't planning on putting that in every post you make about Wakefield, are you?

I am starting to develop an irrational hatred of Nick Green. I think its because he has now gained the incontestable "gamer" status after his
walk-off last week. Every positive thing he does now will be embellished and every negative thing he does (almost everything) will be completely overlooked. I
can't wait for Jed to come back.

Get a real SS, please.
On the other hand if your tools suck and your skills are excellent you're either not highly regarded or you're Pedroia.

Seriously, this game's on Nick Green if they lose. You have to find a way to get a run in there.
This lineup just isn't gettin' it done.

6 runs this series.
Is it time to stop pretending like this lineup doesn't need to be improved?

Nobody isn't pretending that this line-up doesn't need improvements but at what cost? Is there someone who would represent a sizeable improvement,
enough for that cost not to matter but more importantly colud this team win a championship without any significant change, I certainly think so.
A-Rod you and Barry Bonds are the best
player in the history of the game, don't believe the Cra**** this STUPID FANS say.

Varitek is starting to look washed up (again), we have no idea what to expect from Lowell going forward, and the SS position remains in shambles. The bench is
also incredibly weak.
I know the offense has been fine so far, but that was with guys like Bay, Youkilis, and even Green playing well above their heads. 1-5 this team is pretty good, but with the aforementioned players coming back down to earth I'm just not sure the team has enough depth to sustain their current level of offensive success.

Next game we'll score like 10 runs and people will all forget about this 'get a better bat' shit. Until the next game we score 1-2 runs, which
REALLY DOESN'T happen with other teams.

Kottaras is now used as a pinch-runner, representing the tying run? Either Kottaras is slow or he isn't! Lugo and Baldelli must be too fragile at this
point to pinch-run. I know it means using up an extra player because then Baldelli and Kottaras are both removed from the bench, but if your down to your last
out ....

I'd like to blame Ellsbury for: A) Grounding out with bases loaded B) Striking out (after waiting for a field trespasser to be tackled may I add?) to end
the game.

No Question Lowell is a concern as is SS.
Lowrie is back in rehab, so he "might" be better than any available SS anyway. Papi is hot but is it NL pitching, or a hot streak. The bench is better than most teams. Tek is an issue, but has been for a year and I don't see a solution. Sure if a great catcher can be picked up go for it, sure if a great 1B, 3B or SS is available go for it. With Lowell's concerns don't forget Lowrie can play 3rd so you go for best available option at 3rd, 1B, SS. I don't see the next Sox catcher walking through the door. Given the lineup is actually doing very well despite a dead Papi and a 3rd option at SS for much of the 1st half. The huge problem to me is overstated. Would an upgrade be nice. Sure. The biggest hole (SS) has one coming. The second biggest (DH) has been fantastic in June. The other (C) ain't happening most likely. If a certain Minn catcher is made available at a high price, MAYBE that happens. If someone salary dumps a good 1b/3B again that could happen. Otherwise who do you want and who do you give up? I don't see it. |

Tommy Hanson
Tommy Hanson was pick @ Round 22, #677 by Atlanta Braves before the Red Sox made their next pick #678 (pitcher-Orvil Aviles- not signed) during the 2005 MLB Draft. It was same 2005 Draft success that the RS got out of their own 5 first Round picks that made it to MLB: Ellsbury, Hansen, Buchholz, Lowrie & Bowden. Tom moved up all levels in MiLB smoothly before he made the MLB this season. It was great find by the Braves organization (probably luck). I just wondering whether the RS knew more about Tommy Hanson via scout reports during the 2005 Draft. I know that it was crap shoot for all organization about picking the players in late rounds. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/draft/2005/June-Reg/22.shtml |
