Then you put Masterson back into the rotation. And just because Bowden has been inconsistent doesn't mean he no longer qualifies as "rotation
depth", as if he can't be called up.

A-Rod's Contract | #62 | ||
ArodSucksAtLife wrote:Let me get this straight. You're worried about the 12 m the Sox owe Lowell next year. I'm sure his range will be better next year. Do you remember he had hip surgery? Have you really watched A-Rod play this year? The Yanks owe him 8yr/214m after this year. And, you'd like to be on the hook for that? A-Rod will be 35 next year and 42 at the end of his contract. You want to commit an avg of 28 million to a player during the "twilight" of his career. In 2-3 years the Yankees will realize they are stuck with him for another 5yr/140m and wonder what the hell they were thinking back in 07 when they extended him. |

How is it possible to be this bad at putting a lineup together?
On the other hand if your tools suck and your skills are excellent you're either not highly regarded or you're Pedroia.

What's it gonna take to get Pedroia out of the leadoff spot?
My god.

Pedey is killing our offense. He doesn't hit. He doesn't get on base. He doesn't see a lot of pitches. Kick him out of leadoff spot.

Thanks.
Anything with Pedroia not batting leadoff would be preferred.

I'm no Bill James, but wouldn't being the lead off hitter be a psychological issue only in the very first AB of the game? Otherwise, I'm okay with
one of our better hitters (Pedroia) getting the max AB's possible. I could live with Drew leading off, as I'm pretty sure that he's one of those
guys whose heart rates never gets above a certain point no matter what, like Hannibal Lecter when he killed people.

Somewhat. But it also means you're batting in front of the number 2 hitter, which probably means you aren't getting as many good pitches as the numbe 2
hitter, who used to bat in front of Ortiz.

Color me optimistic, but I think 2007 Josh Beckett is back.

I think Beckett should pitch like this every game.

I hope Dice K watched the game. Beckett was ahead of the hitters all night. No walks and 94 pitches. |

Actually, Dice-K has been fairly pitch-efficient his last few starts. His problem is, when he throws it in the strike zone, it gets hit -- hard.

Great game last night. We were sitting behind the Red Sox dugout. Beckett was in control all night - looked like he tired a bit in the 8th but make a nice play
on the 1-6-3 DP to end the threat and then closed it out in the 9th. Ellsbury made two nice defensive plays and the offense finally got to Lowe in the middle
innings once his stuff began to deteriorate - Lowe was vintage for the first four innings, Lowe got standing ovations when he came out to warm up, when he was
introduced at the beginning of the game and when he was pulled (and he tipped his cap to the fans). Very classy all around. Freddie Lynn was at the game, so
dual use of my 19 jersey was appropriate. Very quick game - 2:20 or so.
