Excellent point. If there is one over-riding reason the Sox are in 1st it is the performance of the bullpen. If the BP burns out the Sox will be in deep
trouble.
This makes me wonder how much longer the Sox will keep Dice-K in the rotation. Last night probably was not a fair test because of the rain delay, but if he can't get to the 6th at least on a more or less regular basis he becomes a bigger problem as the season goes along. With Smoltz ready, no evidence so far of a trade the Sox will make for Penny, and Buchholz and Bowden at Pawtucket, something is going to have to happen in the next week or so. I wonder if another trip to the DL for Dice-K is not far off? |

I was thinking Tito should give Tek a day off. In fact, I think he's way late on giving him an extra day off. He's looked cooked lately and we know
where this is going if he doesn't get his April/May legs back.
I don't know why Pedroia gets the day off today too. Tito loves to give all the days off at once. I can't stand it.

Youk change his stance again? His legs seems really close together, almost Ichiro like. Could've been an odd angle.

Well that was awful.
On the other hand if your tools suck and your skills are excellent you're either not highly regarded or you're Pedroia.

Tito's use of the shift against Utley was just absolutely mind-boggling in that spot. You really couldn't make that kind of stuff up if you tried.

Whoever lines up the outfield defense for this team needs to wake up. Rocco plays on the friggin' warning track and it's cost the team a load of runs
today (3 by my count)....

And Beckett gives back the lead to the Phillies. Not exactly the performance we expected after the last 6 weeks. Bard in with a runner on 1st and 0 outs in the
7th

This team is very good, but defense might be its fatal flaw.
