Also, if he is non-exclusively franchised, other teams can negotiate with Cassel, but must relinquish two first-rounders if the Pats do not match the offer.

Essentially, we are assuming it would be a (re)sign and trade situation via renegotiating his contract to encompass more years while still giving him lots of
guaranteed money so he would agree to an extension/restructuring.

From Mike Reiss's article
today re: Cassel's trade value:
While noting that it only takes one team to take the plunge, my projection at this time is that a second-round pick -- and the addition of another pick that could be conditional based on how Cassel performs -- is a realistic expectation. |

They are going to franchise him so they have him under their control so they can sign him to a longer term deal then trade him. If they dont franchise him then
he will just walk and get signed by whatever team pays him the most.

i cant imagine cassel not getting the pats at least a first round pick. Schaub was traded for 2 second rounders and he only played in a handful of games while
Cassel played a whole season and couldve easily been named to the Pro Bowl.

BB lost 4 coaching staffs to other teams (promotions) & always wondering whom he'll hire as new staff. Do you have any idea what's in his mind? I
don't have any clue. Hope that he'll find them nicely.

that is really disappointing about moore. I hope the Pats can find a stud SS whether it come in a trade, the draft, or Meriweather turns it up a notch.

2-1, 3-1, and a 2010 2nd rounder for Cassell. Draft Andre Smith-LT 1-1, and a LB from USC Maualuga or Cushing 1-20. Seems perfect for Detroit. Between Linehan
and having Calvin Johnson taking crap throws to the house, Cassell will do well. That is pretty acceptable value for the Pats.
2-1 is right around where Sean Smith CB will go. this post was stupid and full of drunkisms so i reased it - BSCrich |

Crap, totally not good. This is the same guy that drafted Vince Young and Pacman. |

Do you know who build the Titans from crap to decency that guy right there. Pac Man was a talented Football player so I don't fault him for drafting him,
besides the Pats know what they are doing when it comes to drafting "character" players.

you have to give him credit for drafting albert haynesworth. His other notable draft picks include Steve McNair, Eddie George, Jon Runyan in the 4th round,
Derrick Mason in the 4th, Samari Rolle in the 2nd, Jevon Kearse, Keith Bulluck. He got Cortland Finnegan, arguably their best player in the secondary, in the
7th round. He gets guys in the latter rounds who are able to perform well enough so that they can play at the pro level. Reynaldo Hill and Michael Roos are
other examples. I do not think Pac Man was a bad draft pick he just couldnt keep his personal life under control. Plus this may sound crazy to some of you but
I think that the jury is still out on Vince Young, I would not rule him a bust yet. His first season he won ROY, His second season although he played
ridiculously bad his team still got to the playoffs. I just think after seeing the talent he displayed his Rookie season and if you can get him a few reliable
targets via the draft or free agency that he can truly be a good QB. The titans not resigning Drew Bennet was a move that I think really hurt him.
