You can follow sano's story at livetoplayplaytolive.com. Here is a cool link that goes to a video about him: http://www.globalpost.com...part-2-miguel-angel-sano . Here is
link to a story about him and skimming scandals with Domincan Prospects from ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com...nt?id=3974952&type=story . And this link talks about his
attitude and character (Kind of reminds me of Manny). http://livetoplaydr.blogspot.com/2009/03/yheraldy-and-miguel-and-chili-cheese.html.

Steve Dillard wrote:JCE-Junta Central Electoral seems to be an all encompassing central validation authority within the government of the Dominican Republic. It authorizes political parties, validates elections, divorces, child custody, maintains the registry of Dominicans, etc. There is an office in New York, also. A couple of notes: I tried to find out something the other day on this question and could not find a thing. I was really impressed with your results. One thing I did find was that 3 MLB investigators? were fired during the investigation, and could not find out anything else about it. Was it related to this investigation, or to bonus skimming? The last note I saw was in the Dominican baseball blog you linked. Did you see the comments underneath where someone asked if the writer could post his list ranking the prospects? He basically said that he would not, in fear for his life, if a buscone with mob ties felt he was harming their prospects chances by not ranking them high enough (my paraphrasing, you might read it differently). |

Not sure how reliable he is, but reading that Dominican Baseball blog, his new entry is all about the Red Sox and a player named Amiro Santana. In a previous
blog the writer also notes we're after a pitcher named De Paula, but he has age-related issues right now.

Interesting article about SS Miguel Angel Sano, and the steps teams will go through to make sure they aren't Smiley Gonzalezed.
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09135/970290-63.stm The Pirates have an inside track on signing one of Latin America's top amateur prospects, Dominican shortstop Miguel Angel Sano, but the cost of the
signing bonus could top $4 million and become the highest in Major League Baseball history for that region.
They have had significant concerns about his age, though those might have been placated in the past week: Sano, whose 16th birthday was Monday according to Plummer, has maintained that, despite his mature physical stature, he is being truthful about his age. The Pirates, highly skeptical, conducted an investigation, one that included a bone-graft test Wednesday that assigns an age range based on DNA, and Sano's range was between 16 and 17. An investigation of birth documents is ongoing.

I really like Jorge Arangure's blog on the MLB page of ESPN.com. It is one of the things that makes the Insider worth it. I e-mailed him about the Sox
and he said "I haven't heard the Red Sox being on any of the high-priced guys. They definitely are not in on Sano. They aren't likely to get Gary
Sanchez. They don't seem to be on Jacob Beltre. They've been fairly quiet on the top guys."
I just don't like the attitude that the Yankees are all there is to baseball. And I've gotten that impression over the years. Screw them. -- Beau Vaughan

To add to what the poster above me said, Arangure has a new blog up about a series of exhibition games featuring the top Latin prospects against teams of the
New England Collegiate Baseball League.
http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4168576&name=arangue_jorge_jr Pittsburgh's Rene Gayo put together this plan and will be managing. Red Sox scout Johnny DiPuglia will be coaching the international team, which Arangure notes could include players such as Miguel Angel Sano, Wagner Mateo, Jacob Beltre, and Daniel Sanchez. I'll definitely be out to see them when they play in New Bedford, as that's just down the road from me. Hopefully (and this is my selfish side coming out here) this means the Sox could become more interested in some of the big name Latin players as well. |

There's an update on BA about the International Prospects for July 2nd:
http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/prospects/international-affairs/2009/268162.html
You have to be an insider which i'm not right now so I couldn't tell you what it says, but supposedly the MFY's will be signing Catcher Gary Sanchez. |

A source said shortstop Jose Gregorio Vinicio, who is on the initial roster to participate in the exhibition series with the Latin American all-stars, is likely to sign with the Red Sox for a $2 million bonus.Link |

Excellent. I like the (limited) stuff I've read on him. I would like to see the Sox snag a couple of the high-end Latin American FAs this year, but if not,
signing a high potential SS is a good start for amateur talent acquisitions.

Can't find the article now, but I just read one a few days ago about him being a big SS with speed and has already filled out at a young age. He plays in
the DR, and is a favorite among coaches, as he busts his tail all the time.

Red Sox signed a 7 year contract with a Dutch prospect. His name is Raoell Kortstam, OF, 17 years old. He will first go to Australia to play ASL Red Sox. In
2010 it is expected he will join GCL Red Sox. Raoell plays for Amsterdam Diamonds, one of the six MLB Academy's in the Netherlands.

Yes, Lars is also my son. How comes that you know him?

After you mentioned the news on Kortstam I did some research about other Dutch prospects on the horizon and I saw that someone by the name of Lars Huijer will
be eligible to sign next year. Is he already getting interest from major league teams? What position does he play?
