Edit: I just saw that Corsaletti was promoted. That could help Reddick's situation.
Read Cuzittt's next post. Pritz demoted. It would seem as though Reddick is staying in Lancaster for now.

Congrats to Lars and Diaz, hopefully they do good in Portland.
Boston doesn't deserve me.

Something else to add to the mix:
According to one of the Sea Dogs (via his host), Bowden, Corsaletti, and Madera are going to AAA, Reddick to AA. |

One thing I'm a bit curious about is how this is going to play out in Portland actually. I would imagine that Lars is going to get most of the time at
first, but what happens to Bates then? Is he going to slide into the DH slot instead of Hall, or do you see him possibly moving up and taking over Spann's
spot in Pawtucket?

Jones at first will probably take place although I agree your assessment on Still. He has to play somewhere. His DH role has not been consistent and frankly lackluster. Jon Still does not have the arm to be a catcher but defensively sound. I would expect Still be in AA by August maybe but don't get your hopes up on performance. To be primarily a DH in the minors is not a good thing. I certainly would not put all my eggs in one basket as a DH.

Any chance that the organization is trying to improve Lars' stock by promoting him two weeks prior to the trade deadline. Much has been made of the Sox
love for Teixeira and Lars (while obviously not MLB ready) would be a nice piece in a deal. I know the rumors are Youkilis and Hansen for Teixeira, but wanted
to get some thoughts on this as most people assumed Anderson wouldn't bump to AA until August.

I was thinking about that Soxphd. I guess it's possible that the Sox thought that the only way to get Lars' stock to increase was by playing him in a
more advanced and neutral environment, but I don't think it's likely.

Welcome to Soxprospects.com, soxphd. I don't think they are trying to improve Lars stock as it is already good. I can't see the Sox dealing for
Teixeira without signing him to an extension prior to a trade and with Scott Boras as his agent I cannot see that happening.

I would think that the Sox can't include both Youkilis and Lars in a trade for Texeira due to his impending free agency and his obvious desire (or
Boras' desire) to test the free market.
Edit: Beaten to the punch. |

Congrats to both guys. The organization must think highly of both players as both are still very young but moving up the ladder quickly. Diaz saw alot of time
with the big club in ST and I believe Lars got some at bats. I was at the sea dogs game yesterday and missed both guys by one day. I would have loved to see
them play. I hope they play in CT again this year so i can watch them both. Congrats to Corsaletti and Bowden as well.

I also doubt the Sox are trying to boost value for Lars. Hell at the rate he's going right now he'll be in line for the 1B job during Spring Training
2010.

Although I'm a little sad I won't get to see Bowden pitch again this season, I am so stoked to see Lars hit the second half of this year. It will be a
great joy to see him further develop his skills; the promotion is well-deserved and the next test in his developmental process. I can't believe I'm
also going to see Diaz, here's to hoping he can find some success with the bat, but I am sure I will be thrilled with the glovework he's going to
display at Hadlock. Our entire system is in for an exciting second half across the board. Good luck to all the Sox mLers.
In regards to increasing the value of Anderson as a potential trading piece, I think this move was logical without taking that into consideration. As far and away the best hitting prospect in the Sox system, I think the Sox FO really is sold on Lars, and can't see him being part of a deal this year, as Youk will be the bridge to Lars at first base, depending on how far Lars inches closer to ML-readiness this year and next year. I love Teixiera as well, but I just don't see a fit with the way our infield is situated right now, and I believe Youkilis' value in terms of contract status and fielding are important pieces to consider in comparison to what Teixiera brings. |

Actually, I think the most likely scenario is that Lowell is the bridge to Lars. Youk may stay with the club for the longer term. Now a wild idea: Argenis IS
already on the 40-man roster. Is it conceivable that he could be brought up in September as a defensive caddy for Lugo/Lowrie? I realize there are
option/service time issues that might preclude this, but that's one reason I could imagine a promotion for Diaz at this time.

Re: Argenis - There is no option issue. He's already been optioned down this year... bringing him up doesn't burn another one.

any team that trades for Lars is not going to be influenced by the timing of his promotion to AA. Obviously, Lars would only be included in a major deal, and
that team (Braves or any other) would have extensive scouting reports already. His performance in 35-40 AA ABs before the trading deadline is not going to have
an effect on his status as an elite 1b prospect.
He is being promoted because he achieved the organizational goals for his 1st half at Lancaster. I'm certainly excited to have him in New England. |
