Who is Ellsbury competition for the ROY this year. Besides Joba is there anyone else that will be in the running?

At this point last year, Ryan Braun was still in AAA (he was called up on May 24).
It's way too early to even think about this.

I think Murphy and Gomez where on a MLB rooster too long to be eligible

according to espn.com's sortable stats, Murphy is still a rookie but Gomez is not.

If the cutoff is 130 ab, then Murphy and Gomez are both eligible.

considered eligible if they are under the 130 AB limit. I am not sure on the service time for either of the two, but would believe Murphy to be under the
limit and Gomez possibly over it.

Gomez is over the days Murphy is not most of his time on MLB rooster was after Sept 1st. If his #'s stay where they are he could be ROY candidate.

You've got to feel real good for David Murphy. Hopefully he can earn enough money playing the sport where he will be comfortable for life.

Exactly, candidate. As of right now Ellsbury appears to be running away with it. But word on the streat is there might be some compition after the All-Star
break. The Yankees seem to have this pitcher they'd rather have than Johan Santana

rsfs04 wrote: How do you figure he is running away with it? As stated a few posts above, Murphy just won Rookie of the Month for April. Murphy's got a .832 OPS to
Ellsbury's .822. Jacoby has 9 XBH's vs. Murphy's 25 XBH. Murphy's driven in almost twice as many runs and has 15 more doubles. Ellsbury has
stolen more bases and made flashier plays in the field, but Murphy has been a consistent producer for the Rangers so far. In the long run Ellsbury may run
away with it if Murphy drops off and Jacoby continues to get better, but I think that statement seriously downplays the impressive start Murphy has had to this
season.

attention that generally garners awards. Ellsbury's got him beat there . . .
