Julian Tavarez DFA'd |
Lead | ||
|
Pornstar hopeful, phone and Gathright punching, baseball bowling greatest spot starter middle reliever in Red Sox history has been DFA'd. I for one find
this unforgivable and will never be the same again.

The Sox needed a quirky pitcher to pick up where David Wells left off and Julian Tavarez filled those shoes admirably. Whenever I see someone getting their
head rubbed, I'll be thinking of you, Julian.

Gotta think the DFA is just the precursor to a soon-to-be-announced trade, right? Not that it would be a major move, but the guy still has some value, given
the scarcity of pitching in the league. Or have I been drinking the Red Sox Kool-Aid for too long?

It was the right thing to do, but let's give him some credit. He took the ball everytime he could. He was a tough competitor, gave it all he had, and did
it with style and charm. His life story is pretty remarkable. I have a lot of respect for him.

I'm gonna miss him for sure. I still thought he brough enough to the team to keep him on, but apparently not.

throw to first base to youkilis due to his lack of confiidence throwing to bases. i will never forget the look on francona's face. dan roche
re-created this scene during a spring training interview with youkilis. the rockies have a deep farm system and need pitching. theo should be able to arrange
a trade tavarez for a decent prospect over the next ten days.
my guess is that pedrioia with his newly shaven head is manny's new head rub companion.

Uh oh - could Manny be far behind? If the Sox aren't interested in having his best buddy here to soothe him, then surely they're not interested in
keeping Ramirez himself!

In all seriousness Tavarez was sometimes under appreciated for what he brought to the team last year especially. Long relief, spot starts, filling in for
Schill. His value was greater that what his numbers had shown. The hard cold correct move would have been to DFA Timlin but I can't see that happening. I
don't see him clearing waivers, you would think he has some trade value.

Lopez is much worse...I am sure teams will put in claims for Tav if we don't work out a trade (and I seriously wouldn't expect too much via trade).

I gotta believe Julian holds some value as is, and more if the Sox kick in some cash.
It's good for all sides. The Sox no longer need him, and now Julian can pitch more (possibly start) in his contract season. Manny should be happy this happened, because I'm sure Julian (and Boras) are happy about it. |

Why is it gutless? with the talent coming through the farm, he just wasnt the best option anymore. he served the sox well and we should all be greatful, but
it was a fair enough front office move.

Inside joke, tiki. You get a pass. When someone says someone is 'gutless', 95% of the time it's a joke.

Theo's almost as gutless as Ellsbury. I like Julian, he will be missed. He was very under-rated/appreciated in my opinion, sure he had some bad outings, but he was a very valuable player last year. They have absolutely no one in long relief right now. |
