What a cool environment to develop baseball players in. Let's build a stadium inside a racquetball court next.

Lancaster-
I don't even know what to say about Russ' pitching, so I'm gonna keep my mouth shut on that subject. As for lil Paps I knew we were gonna have the wild child tonight before he even threw to the first batter, because he couldn't get one warm up pitch to go straight to Farkes. He is always either perfect or cruddy, there is no middle ground for Josh. Brian did OK, although the first pitch he threw went straight to the back stop. And Blake wasn't bad. but for some reason the 66ers were able to hit the gap between first and second all night and Sheely was in RF and he doesn't have Reddick or Nava's arm so they were not worried about getting caught at the plate at all. Now for the top of the 9th, that was FUN.... the HR by the RF foul pole that Segovia supposedly gave up was a foul ball. Everyone with a decent view from the stands knew it, our bullpen called it, Lars and Farkes called it, their hitter stopped running, Sheely was pointing foul, and the ump signaled HR after thinking about it for little while. Eppi of course ran out and yelled and appealed to the base ump, who said he wasn't watching, so it stayed a HR. So of course any foul ball that was hit for the next 5 minutes the entire crowd would yell "Home Run". The game was at that point 17 to 0 and then 2 batters later the ump called a balk on Luis, well Eppi lost his damn mind, it was F'ing great! He went after the idiot HP ump and had to turn his cap around because he was so close, and then when the base ump got in between he cussed him to. Then when Chad left he walked out into the center of the diamond by the pitchers mound and walked all the way out to the clubhouse in the middle of the field. Absolutely Brilliant! He got a standing O from half of the season ticket holders. Nava came in and pretty much pitched like an outfielder throwing a ball, but he does have a very special distinction, he is the only pitcher I have ever seen walk a batter on a 3 ball count. The next to the last batter in the bottom of the 9th, Edwardo Perez, got a 2 balls and 1 strike count on him and when Nava threw the next ball Perez threw his bat, walked to first, and the ump didn't stop him. By then only a few people were paying attention, but come on! People were yelling but I think that they just wanted the game over. Luckily the next guy got out. That game was way ugly. Edit my grammar's awful when I'm falling asleep

Jones: As we know he wasn't throwing gas but he has a very good breaking ball and above average command. I was encouraged. Hitters looked uncomfortable against him. The Portland line-up was less exciting. I didn't see many future big leaguer regulars. Some of these guys I've seen a number of times but some this was my first so take it fwiw. The defense was particularly bad with the exception of 3/4 up-the-middle fielders. Hall made a good read on a well hit ball deep to left center. He looks like he could man the position. Wagner looked to have a very athletic build. He had no problem behind the plate as he looked very nimble. Didn't get to see him try and throw-out a runner but his practice throws were nothing special. Good accuracy but not much juice. Just as easily could have been throwing 85% in practice though. He swung at a couple pitches well out of the zone but was overall the best positional prospect for me. He looked at strike three another time and just stood there smiling when the Ump called him out. I don't think he agreed. Ryan Khory made an error on what should have been an easy DP. He was unimpressive. Suarez displayed major league range at SS and fairly smooth mechanics. He also put on some good at bats and drove a ball to the gap. At his age you figure he is what he is but I thought he could cut it as a utility player. Picnkney has pull power but he will not stick at third. Daegas is a pretty big dude and the bat is legit but he was also awful in the field. His report is probably spot on. Bates' swing looked about the same. Maybe not quite as long as I remember but not exactly short. Corso has a plan at the plate and he made some good contact. He looked really solid all day on both sides of the ball until he faced a guy throwing mid 90's where he suddenly looked over-matched. I wouldn't read too far into but it was night and day. Every time I see him I forget to look for the mythical hitch. Maybe that's why he was over-matched!!!!11!! (sarcasm) I think that's about it...
