Basically, Yuku offers two hosting programs: (1) pay-per-visitor ads-free hosting, where the site is required to pay a certain dollar figure per 1,000 page views; or (2) ad-based hosting, whereby the message board is hosted for free, except Yuku places advertisements within actual posts of the board, approximately every fiftteen posts or so. With the second option, nothing will change except those ads. Also, if individual members are bothered by those ads, they can pay a nominal yearly fee (I think its like $12/year) to Yuku and become an YukuSupporter, and then they would not see the ads when logged into their account.
As I mentioned, the advertisements will begin popping up next week around May 16. I'm really not sure how intrusive the ads will be, but I'm sure there will be some level of annoyance due to the change. My apologies for that, but I'm not sure there's a whole lot I can do at this point. Some of the mods have suggested asking for membership contributions similar to what SoSH does, but I'd really prefer not to go that route. Once the ads start, we can re-evauate the situation and go from there.
Thanks,
Mike
