(Trenton, NJ) - Portland had 28 baserunners and received five strong innings from Michael Bowden (3-3), defeating the Trenton Thunder 7-1 in the series opener on Tuesday night at Waterfront Park. The win for Portland ended a 6-game road losing streak and put them a game and 1/2 behind Trenton for the top spot in the Eastern League's Northern Division.Bowden tossed five strong innings on three hits, one run, no walks and three strikeouts. The righty had his scoreless streak snapped at 15 and 1/3 innings when P.J. Pilittere delivered a run-scoring double in the fifth inning....Tony Granadillo and Iggy Suarez each had three hits for Portland. Granadillo drove in the first run with a two-out, RBI single in the second inning. Suarez followed Jeff Corsaletti's triple with a run-scoring single in the third. Granadillo came through in the fourth inning, nailing an RBI double down the right field line.
