Not much chance of Sea Dogs playing (rain). PawSox and Drive are iffy (rain). In Lancaster, the forecast is for more runs and a good chance of Reid Engel's hitting streak continuing.

Not much chance of Sea Dogs playing (rain).

Let's hope the front moves very very slowly - or even in reverse. It's beautiful in Portland right now. Although i can see where some clouds are starting to move in.
If not tonight, it looks even more bleak for tomorrow.

Anybody ever put together numbers of Lancaster hitters graduating to Portland and how they've done with the Sea Dogs?? Seems like a lot of struggling. Not sure if proves anything. Perhaps adjusting to AA pitching? Perhaps adjusting to not hitting in Clear Channel and the other hitters parks in the Cal League.

disclaimer: I am not saying it's bad for development to hit their, just asking whether hitters are getting used the park effects and not adjusting quickly to more neutral parks.

It's a fair question, and one who's answer will increasingly come into focus. But, it would seem to me that the only player with enough tenure to draw substantial conclusions would be Bubba Bell (and maybe not even then), I just don't want to rush to judgement. Not that such an attitude makes for lively discussion...

I hear you PasadenaSox - just a quick comment in reaction to Temple's observation about some ugly numbers in the Sea Dogs lineup. maybe it's just cold weather or simply sss. In contemplating this more, although it might be an interesting analysis in general (especially if we can compare numbers from previous years making the leap from non cal league teams to AA), it might be more interesting to consider jumps during the season. I would think to start the season, there should be no lingering effects from playing the previous year in Clear Channel. The greater adjustment, I would think, would be getting used to hitting in the conditions at Clear Channel and then getting the call to Portland and having to adjust to a more neutral park. I have no statistical background to really do this analysis, however.
