Buchholz (1-2, 4.01 ERA) struck out nine, matching a career high. He allowed one hit and two walks over seven innings, looking nearly as sharp as he did when he no-hit the Orioles at Fenway Park.
"You could see as the game progressed, he was coming off the mound, like jumping at the end," manager Terry Francona said. "Just aggressive arm speed on his changeup. It was fun to watch. You're not going to throw a two- or three-hitter all the time, but that's the kind of guy we envisioned. His stuff was electric."
