Brian Matusz vs. Stephen Strasburg begins in a few minutes. Next time they meet could be in the majors in a few years.
Vandy beat up on 2-time defending champs Oregon State. Alvarez 1-2, 2 BB, 1 SO, 1 HBP.

We'll be lucky if we get 2 games on tv before the super regionals.
Both Strasbourg and Matusz breezed thru the 1st 2 innings without too much harm only to struggle in the 3rd. Aaron Crow for Missouri in their 7-1 win over UConn: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 K, 0 BB, HBP (W)

Eric Campbell looked great today for BC. It's too bad the pitching was embarrassing.

In the night cap BC hit seven HRs, including three from Sam Shaughnessy and another from Campbell. That means BC hit 10 Hrs in the 1st 2 games, they had 23 as
a team all of last year!

All that matters is if the Brown Bears can repeat as Ivy League champs. I need another free trip to an NCAA Regional baby!

UVA is a very solid 4-0 after a weekend sweep of two double-headers. I think this team could finish in the top 5 in the nation again as it did last year (2.81
staff ERA, not too shabby).
Strasburg is the real deal, and a nice kid to boot. I had a chance to see him pitch and talk to him last year when he was with Torrington in the NECBL. I would not be surprised if he were one of the anchors of the Team USA roster for summer 2008. |

If you (as I was) are looking for a good site for keeping up with scores, etc. for college ball, try http://www.ncaa-baseball.com/
They feature relatively current real time scores and stats as well as box scores and game recaps for all the schools. If anyone knows a good site for player analysis type commentary, I'd appreciate some suggestions. |

Thank you. I feel like I've seen your username elsewhere too on noledigest or somewhere.
Buster Posey went 2 for 3 with an RBI and struck out two in the 9th, in first career save. He retired another batter and also hit one on a 2-2 pitch. No word on how hard he was throwing tonight, I did hear that he was hitting 92-93 earlier in practice. Senior 1B Dennis Guinn went 3 for 4 with a big 2-run homer that extended a 5-4 lead to 7-4, and finished with 3 RBIs total. Oh, and FSU won the game over Auburn, 7-5. Another at Auburn tomorrow, then 2 at FSU, on Saturday and Sunday. If you guys were still on the edge of your seat waiting for the final score of the FSU-Philadelphia Phillies game... it got rained out.

I'm tdchrisdavis by the way
Anyway, as norbit said in the draft thread, Posey got another save today, and also hit a home run. FSU has now taken the first 3 in the 4 game series against Auburn. Great pitching matchup as San Diego beat Fresno State, 5-2, on Friday... Matusz - 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 11 K, 3 BB....... topped out at 92, curve was 76-79 with good depth, 80-83 slider, 79-81 change, 10 of the 11 Ks on secondary pitches Scheppers - 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 9 K, 2 BB.......93-95 fb which located well, great low 80s slider, sometimes great high 70s curve BA Blog Box score (from SD site)

Bethune-Cookman vs UCLA on ESPN2 now. Here's a chance to watch Brandon Crawford. Tim Murphy's on the mound for UCLA.

Ok, if the tournament is supposed to be about promoting urban baseball, why the heck are teams like USC and UCLA playing? Why didn't they find teams made
up of... uh... urban players instead of rich white players from the suberbs of LA? I would have thought that the Southern roster would be all-black but the
first player I see (the starting pitcher) is-you guessed it, a white boy from some Lousiana town.
A reminder that Robert Stock is batting cleanup for USC...
