I don't think Shevchenko was on the downside of his career when he came to Chelsea. Wasn't he coming off a year when he scored 31 goals for Milan? I think he's just a bad fit for the Premiership. It's too physical for him.

He had a great year before, but to expect that in multiple seasons for Chelsea would be pushing it. He's over 30. For a striker that's the downside of his career.

Who would have thought Rangers would beat Lyon and Celtic would beat AC Milan in the same week?
Just a weird week for Champions League. Werder Bremen loses to Olympiakos at home, Benfica loses to Shakhtar Donetsk at home, Liverpool loses to Marseille at home, and Real Madrid can't beat Lazio. Not to mention the two Scottish upsets. Arsenal survives with their 9th straight victory. |

Rough day for the Brits. England and Scotland both have painful, pathetic losses in the East. Their equivalent of getting Gagne'd. Both teams might not make the Euro this summer because of these losses. Yes, England might not qualify. If Russia beats Israel next month, England will be out. England's final game is a tough home game against Croatia as well, which is a must win.
Rooney is the most overrated sack of shit in soccer. |

Of course he is, but I'm tired of Portugal being known as "the nice people" Just like the Pats this year, I'm enjoying a bit of a swagger in a portuguese player. Granted with Cristiano its a bit much, but still, its always seemed like the squad was a bunch of players that were never very aggressive or even confident.

I know the MLS isn't nearly as good as European soccer, but the NE Revolution are playing the Chicago Fire at 7:30 tonight in the Eastern Conference
finals.
Here's to hoping for a win from the Revs to give them another chance at choking in the MLS Cup. edit: Revs win 1-0 and are going back to the MLS Cup.

I really hope Portugal and england play in the 2008 Euro Cup, there's some good old fashioned ill will there. Plus Portugal will wipe the floor with them since we all know england was lucky to have such a close game in the world cup.
