I think it's a bit much to have NFL/Patriots discussion and NCAA discussion all in the same thread, so I'm splitting this out in honor of the fact that the season is kicking off in about 3 weeks.
My opening thoughts: Holy sh*t is USC stacked. Their defense could be unbelievable this year. Their offense has a couple of legitimate stars returning in JD Booty and Sam Baker. They also have about a million guys who could potentially break out this year, including but not limited to Stafon Johnson, Allen Bradford, Patrick Turner, David Ausberry, and Vidal Hazelton, not to mention incoming freshmen Joe McKnight and Ronald Johnson. They also have to rank among the most dominant recruiting powers the game has ever seen. I'm not even a fan and I say this. I'm just amazed by the roll that they are on.
My rooting interests: I have season tickets for the Texas Longhorns. I'm a bit worried about the secondary this year, but it should still be a fun season. I'll be more than happy with a third straight Red River Shootout win. A BCS game would probably follow from that.
There are a few other teams that I will root for to some extent.
Thoughts? Rooting interests? I'm sure there are some BC fans that post here. I believe that they are underrated, and have a good chance of winning their division and reaching the ACC championship game. Once they get there, anything is possible, so a BCS game isn't that far-fetched.
Other thoughts? Predictions? Feel free to use this space to denounce your arch-rival teams as well.
