He's fine. We need to forget about his salary and, when Posey is back, Scal isn't part of the rotation unless someone is hurt or in foul trouble. He'll give you nights where he's terrible and he'll give you nights where he'll drop 3-4 threes and get a charge or 2. And every good team needs a guy like that on the WAY back of the bench.
The reason why it looks bad is bc of the money he signed for. But it obviously didn't hurt our ability to get better so it comes down to does he do what he is asked to do (by his coach, not by US bc of his contract)? I say yes. |

When was the last time the Celts were legitimately good? I'd have to say the year they went to the Eastern semis (2002?). But they looked INCREDIBLE tonight. Let's spend a little time savoring KG in green instead of complaining about Scal. The glass is half full.

I believe the Celtics went to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2000-01 season. They also went to the 2nd round of the playoffs the following year, and won the powerhouse Atlantic Divison title in 2004-05.
But if you meant "good" as in "championship contending good," well it's been around 20 years since then (and before I was born). |

Ray. F***ing. Allen.
What a great game today. Too bad the last 8ish seconds (when Ford and Ray hit 3 pointers consecutively) got blacked out! |

They didn't even play that great and still won.
I'm going on Wed Night against AI, Melo and the Nuggets. Very excited. |

The Celtics are goooood. 77 points in the first half, up by 39. Two blowouts in three games. This is something special. Let's just hope they all can stay
healthy this year. And getting 150 on the Nuggets won't hurt either.

I was there and it was redonkulous. It seemed everything they did went right. I also loved the fact that, in the 4th quarter, KG was up often rooting his
teammates on (but not in that "oh look even our scrubs are scoring on you" way but motivating and pushing the bench guys). His affect on this team
will be more than just the stat lines, that's for sure.

He's like a taller, more athletic Larry Bird without the outside shot.
If that makes any sense. His passing ability and defensive awareness are right there.

That game against the Nuggets featured something I haven't seen in Boston since the Bird days: a killer instinct. There was a moment in the second quarter
where the Nuggets scored 5-6 straight and trimmed the lead a bit. Any year in the last 20, the game would've gotten more competitive because the urgency at
that moment wouldn't have been there. But this time the Celts got the starters going again and just blew the doors off of the Nuggets. There was a clear
understanding that, "If we take it to them right now, this game is over well before half-time. Let's break them." Bird & Co used to do that
in almost every home game, especially against a team on back-to-backs like the Nuggets.
That was a ridiculously impressive win. |

I'm surprised nobody has noticed that despite having only one close game, the big three are still averaging around 39 minutes per game. That's not an
outlandish amount, however, the key to this team is to find its role players on the bench (by giving them minutes in low pressure situations) and to also rest
the big guys for the playoffs, and having a light schedule and 4 blowout wins should have gone a long way towards doing those things.

JSpearl, With a few off days before Indiana Doc could use his big guns in this game especially when Posey and Scal and Pollard are still hurt. The Celts felt
this was an important division game and they did what they had to in order to win this game. When guys get healthy you will see minutes come down on the big
guns.
