Hi everyone. I'm a Maryland transplant to the Boston area and have been a Sox fan for going on 10 years. I'm 28 years old and live in Marlborough. I'm currently trying to visit as many of the Sox affiliates as possible; Greenville, Lancaster and the Gulf League to go.... Nice to see the SOx in position to win the pennant this year

New guy saying hello to everybody. I've lurked here for a little while, and am a member on another Red Sox related board frequented by temple and jsinger,
who may or may not recognise the name. I'm a Brit writer and soxfan, now living in Allston for a few months while I research a book; the fact my
girlfriend's a senior at BU is another good reason for the transatlantic transplant. Spent a few years working for the BBC as a radio sports journo,
including being studio producer for their coverage of the 2004 World Series (AKA dream gig.) Nice to be here - in both senses.

Even though I have been a member for a little while (I check this site almost everyday, even though I don't post a lot), at the risk of sounding like a
real newbie I was wondering how I could edit my picture.

I began following the Sox as a kid during the Neil Mahoney era, and was privileged to see Sox prospects from Tony C onward. I still marvel at the fruits of the
Sox farm system from 1964-75. I'm also interested in player development historically (esp. Rickey's Cardinals and Dodgers) and across MLB.
Unfortunately, the Sox dropped the ball when Sullivan and LeRoux took over -- Sullivan and Kasko were mediocre scouting directors at best -- and had a false
start under Harrington and the Duke. My hope is that we are about see that high level of production again with Theo, McLeod and Hazen having the pieces in
place. In fact, with the emphasis on pitching, better instruction, out-of-the-box statistical anaylsis, paying over slot, and (I hope) a relentless commitment
to add talent every draft, the Red Sox could become the gold standard in player development systems. Anyway, this is a great site and I'm glad to be here.

Hello All,
I'm a Red Sox fan originally from southern Rhode Island but now go to grad school in Albany, New York (a miserable place for a baseball fan... The only game in town is the Astros short season A team, the Tri-City Valley Cats). My current location and a job that has me traveling a lot make it hard to watch and go to as many games as I'd like, so I've used soxprospects over the last year or so to see what's going on in the system. I grew up watching the Paw Sox more so then the Red Sox since it was easier and cheaper to go to McCoy then Fenway. This has lead to my great interest in the minor leagues and the Sox farm system. |

Good Morning, Best Wishes to all the Sox fans.
As we gear up this year it's great to be among kin, i am faraway physically these days with my own pocket farm in wild and wonderful West Virginia. A little bit about me. I am an elder now, having survived a quarter century in New York City keeping the faith with Fenway folk, the Mets fans in 86 were pretty rough. First awareness of the Red Sox was as a toddler growing up in Middleboro, Massachusetts. My sister came home from a Sox game and promptly clubbed me with her new bat: in those days they gave kids the real thing! Consciousnessraising or brain damage: when you get to know me take your pick! IN 1967 i listened to the Series with French Canadian fans in Montreal at EXPO67 on the newfangled transistor radios. Crowds broke out into cheers in public places like the bus stops whenever we were doing something great: which gave me "an Impossible Dream" season" and a passion for the Boston Red Sox for life. Well onwards and upwards baseball has always been my joy. In New York City during college the bar leagues were too tame so i played semi-pro softball with some very capable and big women. i learned a lot about the game from them and from you all at SoSh and from my own real good judgement about the game, have been proven by history (THANK YOU GOD), and still always learning and loving it. So happy to be here.
as salaamu aleikum

Just a quick hello from NW Florida. Been lurking for a year or so and think EVERYONE here does a great job analyzing the prospects and keeping up with the
players. My wife's cousin is in the system (Blake Maxwell), so we're trying to keep up with him, and every little bit helps.
Thought Blake might start the season at Portland, but it looks like he's back in Lancaster, at least for now. |

Ok so I've already been posting for the past week or so but I figured I should introduce myself to the moderators...
So hello! I live in Boston currently and grew up in Massachusetts as a huge Sox fan. In fact, my parent took me to a game when I was only a few months old, in 1986. I guess we sat along the third base line and, as the story goes, my father had a chance to make a play on a foul ball, but he had me in one arm and a beer in the other hand. He caught the ball in his cup, splashing it all over me, my mom, and himself... I love baseball and love to talk and write and post etc about sports with anyone I can. I'm also kind of a stat geek, but aren't all baseball fans!?!? I am not sure when it happened (2002 or 2003?) but I eventually developed a great interest into what happens in the minor leagues. I think it really adds a neat dynamic to baseball that not all other sports have. And since I am slightly OCD, this interest keeps escalating. I stumbled upon this site sometime in 2003 (?) and have been reading it every morning over the past few years. Anyway, enough of that. I look forward to posting on these boards and I am glad I finally joined. Thanks, "CFunk" |

Hi, I'm a Sox fan from Limerick, Ireland. I first saw the Sox on TV while spending the summer of 2000 in New Hampshire. Us clueless Irish students soon
realised that a Pedro start was something to behold, even if we didn't understand all the rules. I managed to catch a game at Fenway in 2001 (Nomo pitched,
lost 4-3 to the Blue Jays) and started to follow the Sox from afar.
I was lucky to be in Puerto Rico for the entirety of the 2004 ALDS, thus catching it on TV. Interest got really serious from then on, which makes me a bandwagoner I suppose. Since then I've lurked around the various Red Sox sites and tried to improve my understanding of all things Sox. This site stands out so much so that it is the first sports site I check every day. Thanks for the great work and I hope to continue leeching from your collective knowledge for quite a while to come |

Hello all. Long time lurker of a few years, first time board member. Sox Fan since the magical 1999 season - I was 14 years old at the time, and Pedro's
year and Manny's Coke bottle shot were enough to convince me baseball wasn't as boring as I previously thought. I work for an entertainment website
(tv, movies, video games, music, etc) and my step brother works part-time for the Connecticut Defenders, so I can see the Seadogs when they visit.
I don't get to see the Sox in person that much as it's a long hike and the tickets are expensive since I pretty much have to buy them through a third party. Last year I went to the "Mother's Day Miracle" game and one of Buchholz' starts for the Pawsox in July. |
