Quintanariffic wrote: I just think Ortiz is a different case because he only does one thing, hit. I like Casey as a bench player, but I'm not a big fan of him being the everyday DH. I fail to see the difference in risk between him hitting in Pawtucket, Portland, or Seattle. Is he incapable of getting hurt in the minor leagues? He's either able to hit, or he isn't. I don't know what your definition of able to hit is. He doesn't need to get his defense ready or anything like that, you can always pinch run for him in the 6th/7th inning if they only want to limit him to 3 or 4 ABs, then the DH would be Sean Casey for 1 AB instead of 4, I could see how that wouldn't help the Red Sox.

Papi talks a lot about ST as a time to get one's timing down. I presume that is the sole purpose of his rehab assignment, and I expect that he is on board
with the need for several minor league games as warmup. No one's asking if Papi feels the need for rehab. Portland and Pawtucket promotions be damned (and
they really aren't hurting for drawing fans anyway) -- if Papi told Sox management that he was ready, they'd get him on the next plane to the West
Coast.

Lancaster scored in the first inning when Navarro walked and then got to second on a walk to Reddick. Jones singled to get a run in although Reddick was out
trying to take third.
