Don't suppose we could smuggle reddick on to that plane to see how his hitting skills/approach will translate at a higher level for an extended time period
this year?
They disagree with the content, and rather than address it, they simply decide the content reflects a bias, and they attack that. -- Joe Sheehan

I would just like to say that I am a huge Adam Mills fan. A lot of people are going to say that he has no place in the organization, but I could see him as a
very valuable long man and spot starter down the road. Certainly not ever going to be a top-of-the-rotation guy, but could be a nice cost-controlled long man
for a few years who actually doesn't walk everyone he faces.

Gee, I guess the Sox think a lot of Mills too!! I also believe he may have a spot as long man. The kid does not beat himself, and throws strikes. Many of
us have mentioned that it is not always about velocity. Command and movement are more important. Mills has a shot, and no one is going to battle any more.
Loved him in Charlotte, and will love him him in Portland!! |

Precursor to a Bowden promotion, maybe?? Wonder who the Lancaster replacement will be? The names on the Lancaster staff have been nondescript all year - would
the Sox move an actual prospect there?

Goodson was already DL'd and Loop was already added to Lancaster.

From college to Double A in a year. Not bad. Who says the Sox don't move people up?
I thought he might be the surprise of the year. Now we'll find out. |

DCRi wrote: the Sox are pretty consistent about moving guys up. They typically set a goal for a guy to work on before they'll promote him mid-season, so one would assume Mills accomplished what they wanted him to acomplish. |

He was also drafted as a senior.

Too many hits | #13 | ||

My concern with Mills is that he gives up far too many hits. I like his control, but do his hits vs. innings pitched bother anyone else?

Mills played in the 6th most hit-prone park in baseball and to be frank, his defense behind him was not very good.
I think the combination of double-A defense and more typical conditions will benefit him greatly.

Thanks Temple. Pitching in a park that is that hitter-friendly makes the performance of Lentz in particular that much more impressive (27 H and 71K in 49.3
IP).

from flap1919: Holy cow, if that's the case, what were THIS guy's goals? Name Team W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR HB BB SO WHIP HLD GF Blake Maxwell LNC 2 3 2.51 25 3 0 0 1 64.2 59 26 18 3 5 10 29 1.07 0 11 And now he's been moved to the starting rotation. He's had a couple of tough outings in a row, but in the "6th most hit prone park in baseball"? C'mon gang, consistency about moving pitchers isn't that big a deal with the FO, IMHO. Nothing but the best for Adam and T.J., I know they'll make an impact and should do good things for the Sox in the future. Before anyone looks at my posts number and thinks, "ah, he's just a newby, don't have a clue", don't go there. I'm new here, but not to minor league baseball, and that includes a contract offer out of HS (a tryout camp, actually) that I turned down to join the USAF in the late '70s. Been following the game for a long time, hope to follow it for MUCH longer, and this site is a jewel for those of us that enjoy watching someone come through the system more than the guys that are already in the show.
And our credo: "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc." We gladly feast on those who would subdue us. Not
just pretty words.
