It be true.
The Red Sox have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Bryan Price, a junior out of Rice University for $849,000. Price was a supplemental first-rounder who was taken with the 45th overall selection in the 2008 draft. The pick was compensation for the departure of free-agent Eric Gagne.Link It's basically slot, in case you were wondering.

So this is what we got for David Murphy, Kason Gabbard, and Engel Beltre? But no pressure or anything, kid.

I should have guessed someone would come up with that joke. It was just too easy to resist.

Not exactly, OCD. From the value of Price, you have to subtract the net damage that Gagne did once he was on the Sox's roster. Of course, since they won
the Title anyway, you might say his effective damage was zero. But it certainly seemed as if he did nothing but lessen the team's chances of victory
whenever he took the mound.

Word from Lowell is he's going to go 2 inning stints, probably (but not definiely) as a starter.

It's probably not a coincedence that he was signed the weekend the Sox were in Houston.

That's bad news for any unsigned draft players that asked more than $1 million signing bonus. Most signers are below that figure. Maybe Casey Kelly is the
only ones that might get more signing bonus as SS or pitcher.
