I had mentioned months ago that Adam Mills may really turn our heads this year with him finally getting an opportunity to start. Well, after another nice
outing today, Mills is the "ace" of a Lancaster team that has played pretty well collectively the first half. He has always been able to throw
"good" strikes and usually not beat himself. Have we got a future major leaguer possibly on our hands?
I'd love to see him stay the whole year in high A and maybe win 13 to 15 games, but who knows. It seems to me, after following baseball for over 50 years, that being able to throw quality strikes consistently may be the most important thing a pitcher can do. Don't get me wrong, I love high heat as much as the next guy, but I hate watching any pitcher (with a Red Sox uni) beat themselves by walking people and consistently getting behind and throwing on 3-1 and 2-0 counts. Isn't it so much more enjoyable these days watching Jon Lester get ahead and making the enemy hit "his pitch"?
Any ideas on Mills? Has anyone seen him much? I think he has been getting more and more impressive this year in a league that can be tough on a young pitcher.
