Chris Jones having just a little trouble in Lancaster. On the road he's been All-Star material. |

Hahaha, I guess that's why they call it "splits." That's absolutely ridiculous; I know that CCS is a shithole bandbox, but still, the Cal
League as a whole is pretty unforgiving to pitchers. That's just a wicked disparity.

You can say a lot about the park effects of Lancaster, but it's neither a shit hole nor a band box, and saying so is just ignorant.
"Lars... is not putting on much of a show. He is starting to remind me a little of Hanley results-wise -- young, tools supposedly to drool
over, but he has generally put up mediocre to good performance without the real breakout that everyone is waiting and hoping for." --ASF

someone explain this to me, how can Switzer give up only 2 hits, no walks, no runs allowed earned or unearned, and strikes out 4 in 2.1 innings and gets
credited with a BLOWN save.

I'm guessing he allowed an inherited runner to score which tied the game.
If that's the case, it's just another example of what I feel is the worst scoring in all of baseball. Think back to Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS. Mo Rivera comes into the game with his team up by a run, and inherits two runners (both of whom Tom Gordon was responsible for) on 2nd and 3rd base with no outs. He then proceeds to give up a sac fly but is able to get out of the inning without further damage. And yet gets credited with the blown save. How in the hell does it make any sense for a guy to receive the blown save when he wasn't responsible for the runners on base who scored the game-tying run(s)?! /end rant.
Lugo is a walking poster child for late term abortions. I know he's in the 95th trimester or whatever but he should be the loophole to the law. mahalo

Thanks Pasadena for that..... fcastig0220- Don't worry about it too much, you aren't the first and you won't be the last to make similar statements. (And I'm the one who can truely say that, because I'm the lone Lancaster person on this board.) If you go back to the old gameday threads from the beginning of 07 you will find me arguing with half the posters, including most of the Mods, on this same subject. Actually I think everyone is pretty lucky today because I don't feel like getting pissed off. The Hawks are in first in the South, I'm leaving in the morning to go to Visalia for the weekend series, and I think I must have taken some drugs or something, because the first thing I did when I saw the "shithole band box" comment was laugh and think it reminded me of klos. |

statement that we have weak catching (a strange way to endear yourself to new future teammates), Expo presents an interesting
problem. He's only 21, considered to be an excellent defensive catcher and he's hitting well. For now Greenville gives him what he needs, playing time,
after a year's suspension. Where does he go from here? He's obviously outgrowing Greenville fast and Lancaster has Still who's defense has been
reported as improved and Wagner's at Portland who's bat has been consistent recently.
And yes, I think he should be top 20. How many defensive catchers are there that are hitting ? Edit: Haha, we need to figure out a way to make out top 20 be about 30 players. I seriously doubt if there's another system in baseball with 20 better prospects than Expo.

I totally agree about Esposito! Everytime I see him, I am more impressed. I was shocked one night when he hit one a mile to right center out, and then the
next time I saw him he pulled one that is still going. A little thing, but Wednesday night at Hickory he wasn't in the line-up...but he was in the game.
Seems to get along with everyone, and was next to the manager all night watching the game. He has a powerful, major league body, speaks fluent Spanish and
English, has a great arm, and has MLB power. Whats not to like! I'm starting to believe our catching is better than most systems.
Dusty Brown is going to play in the majors. Mark Wagner may be a solid regular himself, and then we have Espo! Now if we would just get a third baseman I can get excited about (Middlebrooks?)!! |

Expo has the highest ceiling of the catchers in the system right now - (you could argue Still if you consider him a catcher).
Meanwhile, Jose Alvarez says I don't want to go to Lowell. I really hope he develops more consistenvy over the 2nd half of the season - in Greenville. It's nice to see to see him show these flashes - and I guess inconsistency is the hallmark of young inexperienced pitchers. What do you guys think his ML potential is??
"Like bouncing titties. Sure tits have stats/specs, but you cant really quantify a good pair, but anyone who has seen a good pair will tell you there are
unmeasurable intangbles about them. But if they don't work with the rest of the body (like they are too big or something), you can get a breast reduction
to make them fit perfectly well with, say, a petitte body. Addition by subtraction." - Vendrell
