Did I miss something about the Sox converting him to a starter?

With Masterson in the big leagues and Snyder on the DL they need someone to start. I don't think this is anything permanent at all.

It's just that it's not worth bringing someone up to Pawtucket for two more starts before Masterson comes back down. Don't read into it too much.
The team did something similar with Anastacio Martinez a few years ago in a similar situation.

I don't think Masterson is coming back down. I just can't see the Sox sending him back down when they have a strong need for a bullpen pitcher who can
pitch multiple innings.

Just got back from Hickory to see the Greenville Drive. I've seen some of these guys already several times this year, but I was really impressed with
Lin's and Navarro's defense.....both are going to me really fine. Kalish looked good on defense as did Tejada at third (strong arm!). I really
believe all four of these players are going to play MLB. It just comes down to whether it is with us or somewhere else.
Capelan has one big butt! For such a young guy, he may need to really be careful with that body type. Wasn't impressed with his arm or stuff that much. |

Aside from the four solid hits, he made a fine catch in a tough sun field out in left. If tonight was any indication, Jimenez has very good range. He cutoff a ball in the hole going more than halfway to second, and made the last play of the game almost behind the pitchers mound, getting both players out with solid throws. He and Diaz are both extremely quick on the hand-glove exchange and they simply locked down the left side of the infield this evening. |
