Other than him looking tiny, I like his video, solid motion from a HS pitcher.

TEXS31 wrote: I wouldn't count him out, either. If he ultimately wants to play pro ball, his best education would be with a team like the Sox. If they can get him to understand/believe that, and offer him some sort of guaranteed money toward college, he could sign. Things can really change once a team has a chance to exclusively monitor and negotiate with a given player. Think of Lars . . . |

Yeah TEX, Sonny is the only exception I can think of. But even then I'd still be fairly excited if NYY drafted him, because it'd likely mean
there's at least some interest in coming to terms.
No chance Long signs too, but that's because of talent. I don't really get his appeal. He's a physical freak but way short on demonstrable baseball skills, super high-risk. |

Tex, can you hook us up with a quick list? I've been busy updating the site and haven't been able to keep track. I'd love to see who's still
there.

Ty Weeden was another guy who was supposedly a definite to go to Arkansas and ultimately signed. Id be willing to bet you could split in half the tough signs
that sign and said they wouldnt and the ones that actually do follow up on their college commitment.

diehard24 wrote: anyone ever wonder if these kids are so "dedicated" to going to college why they sign with pro clubs after junior season? If they where so dedicated why wouldn't they play 4 years, get their degree, and then sign? Could it be because they have no leverage? And then you have to ask is how important is education to them then? My interpretation is that baseball is still their priority but see college as an avenue to getting more money. Education is just an excuse they use. I'd like to know how many juniors or redshirt sophmores go onto getting their degree after signing a professional contracts. |

Seth Garrison Round 25 - RHP
Age: 22 Born: August 13, 1985 - Dallas, TX Height: 6-5 Weight: 235 Bats: S Throws: R College: Texas Christian High School: Coppell HS (TX) College Committment: Texas Christian (will be 4th year Senior) Estimated Asking Price: Advisor: Important Notes: Supposedly will not sign with the Red Sox and will return to Texas Christian University for his senior year. June 14 - Link Garrison, on the other hand, has had recent injuries. The right-hander had Tommy John surgery in March and missed the majority of his season at TCU. He pitched in six games, starting three, and posted a 1-0 record with a 1.96 ERA before having to sit out the rest of the season. He had 23 strikeouts and just three walks in 23 innings. "I was surprised [to get drafted] because I had been hurt for most of the year," Garrison said. "But I thought I had a chance. Anything can happen in the draft. It's a big honor, and I take it as a compliment." Garrison said he will also think about whether to sign with the Red Sox or play his senior year at TCU. June 29th - Link TCU junior pitcher Seth Garrison has turned down a professional contract with the Boston Red Sox and will return to the Horned Frogs next season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Had good numbers before the surgery...he should be back to full strength for 2009 |
