Today's lineup:
2B-Dustin Pedroia 1B-Kevin Youkilis DH-David Ortiz LF-Manny Ramirez 3B-Mike Lowell RF-J.D. Drew C-Jason Varitek CF-Coco Crisp SS-Alex Cora Apparently Coco's bunt hit last night must have been very pleasing to Francona. Alternating between Coco and Ellsbury is a terrible idea. Ellsbury is still developing, and sitting every other day won't do him any good. |

pitchers instead of playing Coco in an effort to keep him quiet.

Youk will also look to break Steve Garvey's ML record of 193 consecutive errorless games at 1B tonight.

I know this won't do much for his development, but that way he stays fresh and you can showcase Coco for a trade. Alternating them every other day seems like it'd be worse for Jacoby than AAA. Edit: By April, I mean until he reaches, hopefully, peak value...

bosox1025 wrote:Agreed. It is entirely possible that Coco could be with the Sox for the remainder of the season... there are no obvious trade matches right now, and if a team loses an outfielder due to injury, there's still Kenny Lofton, Jeff DaVanon, and Preston Wilson (among others) who could be rented for cheap money without forking over a prospect. That, of course, is assuming a team would even look outside the organization for help. If this is going to be a platoon, why wasn't Ellsbury just sent to Pawtucket to play everyday until the Crisp situation plays itself out? If nothing else, it would delay his free agency an extra year.

If they want to throw games and retard Ellsbury's development to try to net a prospect for Coco, that's a mistake. Either put Ellsbury in Pawtucket to
get consistant ABs while Coco stinks up the bottom of the lineup daily or get a set of balls and tell Coco that he's sitting on the bench unless there is
an injury or a trade partner. There is no market for him now and forcing him into the lineup at Ellsbury's expense hurts the team and Ellsbury. Crisp can
be a team player or he can cry up a storm to get let go and end up as a 4th outfielder elsewhere. At least here he'll be part of a winner here. If a team
suddenly needs a CF/LF, Lofton's going to end up getting the first call, not Theo for Crisp.

Wasn't Oakland one of the main teams rumored to be interested in Coco?

Could the Sox offense have blown that opportunity in a more gutless manner? Bases loaded with no outs and walking away with no runs.

He's not Mr. 20th pick.
I don't think I've ever liked an Oakland A's player, outside of Jamie Kotsay(and she's gone) it's a completely unappealing franchise.

Im not watching the game, following on gameday, so can someone explain why Lester was removed? From the box it looks like he was still cruising. Just looking at the stats looks like a good outing, he is realy going to have to cut down on the walks as time progresses though. Edit: I can't get into chat. It keeps bouncing me.
