Anybody else notice that Beckett's fastball had a lot more tailing action on his fastball in to right-handers and away from left-handers. Wondering if this
was a change or I just never noticed. He had tremendous movement last night. Twice he threw a fastball to a lefty who spun out of the way like the ball was
going to hit him and the pitch ended up almost a strike. One other thing is that it seemed if Beckett's fastball was down a few mph...he worked mostly
92-94 instead of 95-97 like usual.

I'm not sure if he's historically thrown a 4-seam instead of a 2, but based on what you're saying, the most logical explanation is he was throwing
a 2-seam. Lower velo and some tail.

5/8/2008 @ Detroit Source: BrooksBaseball This is precisely what's happening, edward. In that Toronto start, he was hitting 96-97 consistantly with anywhere from -3 to -11 on the horizontal chart. In his last start at Detroit, he was consistantly hitting 93-94 with anywhere from -7 to -13 break on the horizontal axis. So yes, I think you could accurately say he's throwing the 2-seemer more and with greater break.
