I don't know what you saw but he definitely left the dugout. This is what I recall though most of the Natinals series seemed to be shot from a helicopter.
Magadan did, in fact, leave the dugout. This is why he was suspended - automatic one-game suspension that can't be appealed. Info courtesy of the radio broadcast as I was on my way home from the supermarket.
