You guys have been very clear about rules of thumb for quoting outside sources when we post here. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the degree of intellectual property of our posts in the forums. Specifically relating to blogging or writing an article on a different site or in a different medium:
1) how would you reference quoted posts ("from soxprospects.com", "a message board poster at soxprospects.com", or "nameofposter on the board at...

An updated search tool was installed this mornign on all main pages of the site. The tool will now search only the SoxProspects.com sites. Additionally, a search feature was added at the bottom of the SoxProspects Forum that will search just the SoxProspects Forum. Hopefully this will work better than the Yuku search tool. I welcome comments here.

The SP gods did shuffle the list a bit, particularly the top 10 and particularly in the last week.

Westmoreland and Reddick switched places with Ryan now 2nd and Josh 4th. Needless to say that's a high water mark for Westmoreland.

Word I am hearing is that Hoyer started negotiating with SD before acquiring approval of LL and Sox.. MLB lawyers are involved and large fines may follow. Sense is this kills any chance of an AG trade.

Where would Kelly the Hitter rank?

We discussed this briefly before he started playing shortstop, but I now that we've seen him play and hit, do we have any better idea where he would rank on this website? Also, is there any (new since June) scouting info on him as a hitter?

This is NOT meant to be a discussion of which position Kelly should choose, and for the sake of argument, assume that if he chose hitter, the value of pitcher as a fall-back option is OFF the table.

Haven't done this in a while because there's not as much minor league ball being played, but there is still some and we have had some ranking changes in the past month.

Moving up:

Mark Wagner (c) - He ended the season ranked at 26 but has now moved up to 22. Mark's highest mark was in June 2008 at # 11.

I've really enjoyed reading the cups of coffee this Fall. I want to thank Jon Gray, and am wondering if there's any chance that game stories will be written next summer. I know it's a lot of work, and am in no way expecting it, but it gives a different feel to the games and players than you get from looking at a box score or play-by-play. Either way, keep up the good work, and thanks for everything.

I checked out his numbers from Salem and Portland this year and noticed that he has been raking. I know he is older for AA ball, but it seems like he might be putting it together as a hitter. How has his fielding been? Does anyone think he will crack the top 60 prospects list? If not, why not? I throw myself at the alter of those more informed than me when it comes to prospects.

I'm well behind on site updates, including many transactions form yesterday and bio pages for the newly-signed draftees. I probably won't get to them until tomorrow evening - my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend, and I'm dedicating what free time I have to the draft signing rumors.

I've long been keeping historical records of the rankings on this site ... for no good reason other than to satisfy my OCD tendencies. Might as well share.

The short version: there wasn't much movement in the top 60 this week!

Lars Anderson dropped to 4th. That's down 3 spots since July 4th. Some of that is because others have played well (e.g. Kelly (the pitcher)), but his grade in that time has also gone down a bit from 8-10 to 7-9.

Hissey going Mailman

Just like Mailman's season last summer, Pete Hissey has made steady improvement each month and is capping it off with a great August. He is no RWML but he may not be much different than Fuentes. While the players ranked between 15-25 are pretty tightly packed I can see him bumping back up to that range - which is exactly where he started the year.

Has there been any conversation about changing the Player/Pitcher of the Weeks polls from weekly to bi-weekly? I just don't think a week gives people a large enough sample size to vote on for pitchers.
