Well, he's already graduated as a prospect, but he's only 24, so I figured we could talk about Dustin Pedroia today. He's got 9 homeruns and 9 steals on the season so far, something we never even saw in the minors. Can we project him as a 20 homer-20 steal guy, or did he just have a good June to boost those numbers?

I chuckled slightly when I was browsing the Spinners homepage and saw this same poll comparing the two former Lowell pitchers. I laughed heartily when I saw the results. Do fans really think Justin Masterson has a higher ceiling than Buch because of his recent contributions. It's the first time that more than three PawSox have been chosen, and this year's crop boasts second baseman and IL batting leader Joe Thurston (.324 in 309 at-bats).

Thurston's no stranger to the Triple-A All-Star Game; this will be his record-tying fourth appearance (2002 and 2005 with Las Vegas, 2006 with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre), tying him with Lee Stevens and Todd Williams.

Jered Stanley grabbing attention

I don't think he's a highly touted player, but Jered Stanley is quietly (?) putting together an interesting season. He's top 3 amongst the organization's minor leaguers in quite a few categories (BA, OBP, OPS, SLG, wOBA) and his home run ratio is now at 1 every 13.7 at bats. So what do we have in him? Is his ceiling Sandy Madera or Brad Correll? Is he lacking defensively? Would he need to be putting these numbers up in Portland to be considered a prospect?

Just wondering what the various opinions might be regarding which promotion within the minors is generally the most difficult for players to make. I understand it is slightly different for everyone. We all know guys like Masterson essentially skipped AAA, and many prospects can start out in a higher level than others. But I am talking about in general. Batter bunts it to try to move the runners. Guy on second misses the sign and doesnt get a jump. The runner is thrown out at 3B and the batter is safe.

Does this go into the books as an AB?

We know Scott Boras is his agent. Boras stands to make more money if he can get Manny to
sign a new deal. Not sure he gets anything if Sox just exercise option. He didn't negotiate that
